A FEW WORDS OF ADVICE FOR THOSE WHO ARE CONSIDERING PUTTING THEIR PETS THROUGH QUARANATINE
Do not subject your pet to quarantine if:
They are old or have health issues
Young puppies will have to spend 120 days in quarantine-equivalent to adopting a juvenile delinquent
They have never been kenneled, especially in an outdoor environment
They suffer any form of separation anxiety
They are shy or fearful
They become stressed under conditions such as load noises, aircraft, thunder & lighting. Quarantine is extremely loud, is located close to Airports and we do get our share of thunder and lighting. Fireworks are extremely popular in Hawaii-the louder the better. Some areas of Oahu are completely cloaked in smoke from fireworks during Fourth of July, Chinese and American New Year and other holidays.
If your pet will not willing let strangers enter their environment without your presence
If you are not experienced with dealing with issues such as fence pacing, barking, urinating and defecating in confined quarters, separation anxiety, depression and boredom
Your are not prepared to handle any of the above issues in your home once your pet is released from quarantine
You have not properly prepared your pet for quarantine
The individuals that work in quarantine are like most people-some really good, some really bad, some indifferent. They don't have the time to give your pet the individual attention that you may feel it needs-especially if your pet starts to "act out" under the stress of quarantine.
The staff are there to meet the basic needs of your pet: food, water, shelter and cleanliness. Again, some good, some bad, some indifferent.
Please visit the Department of Agriculture's Web site to see if your pet can be qualified for the direct release program. The extra time it takes to prepare is well worth the wait and can save you a lot of heartache if your pet does not tolerate quarantine well.

We cannot say thank you enough to all the people who helped us out through this whole process. Bringing four Great Danes to Hawaii and getting them through Quarantine is no easy task.
My husband for his love, understanding and support. All his hard work and his firm belief that if we move the entire family moves-Two legged and four legged alike
Angelique Bowman and Bear Mountain Danes who poured her heart and soul into preparing the girls so that they would come through it all healthy-both mentally and physically
Martha and the folks at Sunnymead Animal Hospital, making sure all was in order so that the stay in Quarantine was for 30 days, not 120!
My Dad, for his patience and support through the looooooong arduous night at Los Angeles International Airport
My husband and Angelique for the looooooong arduous day at Honolulu International Airport, Ag and Quarantine "reception"
Duke, for his searching for flights
Christy, who gave us everything, rolled up her sleeves and made sure that it was a clean, safe and "comfortable" place for the girls arrival
Kathy, who was there for us when it came to their release date (Code 7) you cannot image how much stuff you can acquire while you are there.
